The Certification Program for the Jasmin Jahal Method of Oriental Dance provides dancers the unique opportunity to get certified in classical and contemporary Middle Eastern dance that is rooted in authentic folkloric traditions and history. Participants are taught to dance with the whole body and to use accessories (veil, wings, stick, etc.) to accentuate the dance rather than using them as gimmicks. Technique, professional performer and teaching certifications are offered through a series of workshops, home study and testing to help each dancer develop her skills, understanding of the dance, and self-expression.

Goals of the program include:

• To take belly dance beyond the realm of entertainment and to promote it as an art form with the ultimate respect and dignity
• To raise the standards of the dance form by setting achievable benchmarks for mastery of technique, performance and teaching skills
• To develop educated dancers who understand the history, culture and context of the dance and who can then educate the audience and others as well
• To empower the feminine being by raising the self-confidence and self-perception of women as they are

The Program utilizes a polished curriculum developed by Jasmin Jahal. Each level is based upon the program of study utilized at the Jasmin Jahal School of Dance in Chicago, Illinois, USA, where countless professional dancers have studied and where all levels of dancers continue to seek out the best in Middle Eastern dance training. Every level includes a combination of technique, music, rhythm, cultural and historical knowledge.
